On October 20, 2020, Governor Yi Gang attended the virtual Annual Meeting of the Group of the Trustees of the Principles for Stable Capital Flows and Fair Debt Restructuring.
The Principles were developed by the Institute of International Finance (IIF) in 2004, with the aim to promote stable capital flows and coordinate private creditors' participation in sovereign debt restructuring. Governor Yi is a Co-Chair of the Group of Trustees of the Principles.
The meeting discussed the progress of G20 Debt Service Suspension Initiative, updates of Voluntary Principles for Debt Transparency, and emerging issues in debt restructuring. The meeting also discuessed and adopted the 2020 Report on the Implementation of the Principles. Representatives from central banks, finance ministries, as well as participants from key financial institutions attended the meeting as members of the Group of Trustees.
